What types of paint can you mix COOLIT with?
Any acrylic-based primer, flat paint or coating. If you want a glossy finish, we recommend doing two coats of primer with COOLIT and then paint over that with gloss. Allow 24 hours between coats to dry as today’s low VOC’s (Volatile Organic Chemicals) paints take longer cure times to dry.
How do you apply COOLIT to painted surfaces?
The material can now be brushed, rolled or sprayed. If you are spraying, use a 19 or 21 tip on your gun.
Are there any problems using COOLIT?
Sometimes effervescence (white cloudy film) can occur after painting if the liquefication procedure is rushed. This is a non-staining dust residue that can easily be removed.
What is the mixture ratio of COOLIT to warm water?
Add 30 ounces of water into a bucket per (1) gallon kit. Use a 1/2 gallon water per (2.5) gallon kit. Use 1 gallon per (5) gallon kit. Hot water helps dissolve dry COOLIT faster. Most effective to add mix in 2 or 3 phases. Premix water and material first in larger buckets. Use a 2 gallon bucket for 1 gallon mix, (2) 5 gallon buckets for 5 gallon paint. Then introduce the mix into the paint slowly and blend with a paddle mixer.
What is the coverage of COOLIT?
Mixing COOLIT with paint will not affect the square foot (s/f) coverage of the paint you are using. In order to gain both energy savings and fire retardancy, expect a ratio of ~150 s/f per gallon.
